FedEx Office Brussels
HofmanDujardin’s competition entry for the logistics center and office of FedEx in Brussels aimed to combine safety, functionality, identity, efficiency, and business operations. Moreover, the concept embraces a sustainable approach with a focus on collaboration and creates a central heart for the company. A thorough site analysis with a strong focus on the separation of different flows, logistic loops and staff and visitor routes, was at the basis of the plan.
The current site was considered unsafe due to the crossing of truck and pedestrian routes. By relocating the car parks and adding a series of walking bridges, HofmanDuJardin’s concept allowed a safe and protected free flow for the different logistic cycles.
Elevated office
The new office building is placed at the head of the logistics center and is elevated above ground levels. This creates a strong connection with the existing structures and allows for additional parking on the main street. At the core of the office building, a central atrium stretches from the roof to the ground floor, where a transparent entrance gives a new face to the company.
All office spaces are placed along the glass façades to profit from daylight. Horizontal canopies evade any risk of the offices overheating, while a green roof and pocket park add to the biodiversity of the surroundings.
