Neele-Vat Logistics
Port Park Pernis is a new logistic center for Neele-Vat in the Rotterdam harbor district. As the masterplan architect, HofmanDujardin developed a clever strategy to make full use of the site’s potential.
The office building is raised above the warehouse and offers beautiful views of the surrounding industrial landscape. Its cantilevering structure gives the building a recognizable face to the adjacent highway. By placing the car park on the roof of the warehouse, the ground floor of the plot can be used solely for logistical purposes.
Stack planning
This stacked use of space offers multiple advantages. Though the large scale of the logistic environment remains dominant, a more human element is added to the building. The routing for employees and guests is separated from that of the trucks, adding to the safety of the plot. Roof gardens provide a natural and welcoming entrance that contrasts the rough aesthetic of the harbor environment.
While HofmanDujardin was responsible for its general layout and strategy, the design of the building was further developed by RoosRos Architecten.
