Van der Steeg

Van der Steeg Bouw en Ontwikkeling is a family construction company that has existed for over 100 years. The expansion and renovation of their office and production facility will prepare the next generation for the company’s future growth. Due to the importance of Van der Steeg’s construction work, the new workshop has been enlarged and stretched to the plot boundaries. The design for the workshop is an abstract metal-cladded space with strategic openings for logistics. From the ground floor, a generous transparent entrance opens the facade and creates a recognizable and inviting route to the offices on the second and third floor. 

The office is placed on top of the warehouse. The space’s composition resulted from an interpretation of a housing development for which the company is famous. The large openings in the facade offer views in all directions of both the Zwarte Water landscape and the historical center of Genemuiden. Large terraces add comfortable outdoor spaces that stimulate social encounters. The interiors are timeless, contemporary, and modest and feature natural materials and colors that evoke a warm and welcoming atmosphere. These turn the new building into an inviting and functional environment for construction workers, office employees, and visiting clients.
