EY The Hague
The Hague’s Department of International Accountancy firm, EY, operates within a beautiful state monument. Originally designed by J.J.P. Oud from 1938-1946, the building combines modernist clarity with detailed expressive elements. The renovation and interior fit-out are part of a new post-pandemic workplace concept. A fresh environment with a variety of spaces for collaboration stimulates encounters and supports teamwork.
On the ground floor, an inviting co-working space features nooks, reading tables, and lounges, offering an informal alternative working area. The existing structure formed the foundation of the new design. All monumental staircases have been restored and are re-empowered as the main connectors of the building. New colors and materials were carefully selected, to bring a light and warm character. Throughout the building, yellow accents refer to the firm's corporate identity and give the office a recognizable touch.
Collaborative basement
New staircases connect the ground floor to the souterrain, which has now been connected to the office and features a variety of informal collaboration rooms. Formerly used for servant spaces, the existing rough concrete façades inspired a moodier atmosphere, contrasting pleasantly with the bright upper floors.
