NBC Universal Amsterdam
As one of the world’s leading media and entertainment companies, NBC knows how to tell stories. These stories are at the core of their Amsterdam Office’s interior design. HofmanDujardin developed a ‘spectrum of contents’, using materials, colors, and products relating to famous NBC productions. The result is a colorful office that shares cinematic stories with guests and employees.
The NBC Universal office is situated on two office floors which overlook a redeveloped harbor district beside the Amsterdam IJ River. Based on the story of Frankenstein, different shades of grey form a continuous base layer covering both floors. Each floor has three zones demarcated by unique expressive colors reflecting that area’s spectrum of contents.

Spectrum of Contents
Famous NBC productions like Minions (yellow) and Jurassic Park (green) influence the colors and moods that define the spectrum. Thanks to this strategy, each spectrum zone has a clearly recognizable identity. The resulting diversity invites guests and employees to explore the office through these stories.
The spectrum colors are used in carpets, upholstery of loose and fixed furniture, and wall and floor finishes. They pop out in booths, meeting rooms, and the carpet bands around the workstations. Together with the dark grey acoustic ceiling and concrete floor, an assortment of plants adds a continuous layer binding all zones together.
